SHELTER BOX

President Ian Davidson and International Convenor Alex Emslie of the Rotary Club of Lochgilphead attended an assembly at Lochgilphead Primary School on September 21st where they gave a short presentation on Shelter Box and encouraged the pupils to help the project. The school had already agreed that its Harvest fundraising effort should be in aid of this cause but no one expected the eventual outcome. The final total raised by the Primary School was £1113.00!! As well as cash donations from the pupils and their parents, Primary 7 ran a competition to guess how many kids would fit in to the Shelter Box tent - 130 before the heat became to much for them! And the staff, instead of going out to a hotel for their end of term meal, agreed to donate the price of a meal to Shelter Box and met in President Ian’s house (he was turfed out for the night) for a “pooled supper”, raising £300.
